Tyëse Andrea Brown

Composer Arranger Pianist

Intro

Imagine waking up in the middle of the night to humming, even singing, coming from the cooing baby in the crib….

When Tyēse’s incredulous parents realized what they were hearing, they did the next best thing, they recorded her.

About The Composer

Originally from East Orange, New Jersey, Tyēse Andrea Brown started humming and vocalizing uniquely distinctive tunes before she could even crawl. Without any formal training, even before her feet could touch the floor, she sat on a bench and figured out how to transpose those tunes in her head onto the keys of a piano at the tender age of 6. In addition, she manifested an innate ability to play music by ear infused with her own signature arrangements.

The following year, her parents enrolled her into the Newark Community School of The Arts, where she began formal music lessons. During those formative years, she trained under notable Teachers and Composers like Kenneth K. Gilmartin, founder of “Music Together,” Steven Hirschhorn, and Irena Roundtree. She was also afforded the privilege and opportunity to study under the mentorship of Jazz Royalty such as Duke Anderson and Grachan Moncur, III.

As a Music and Education Student at Howard University, Tyèse studied composition under notable Jazz Musician Geri Allen.

A Classically Trained Pianist,

Tyēse has studiously devoted herself to the lifelong pursuit of Music. Professionally, she is a Public School Music Teacher with Certification in Special Education in Music and Master Degrees in Composition and Music Therapy. She is an alumnus of Howard University, NYU and Montclair State.

As a Creative and Performer, she embraces the opportunities to learn and share her knowledge, talents and skillset through engagement and collaboration with audiences and musicians. As a teacher with a strong belief that anyone can compose music, she passionately works to educate and inspire the next generation to embrace their hidden abilities. She is also a proponent of the use of Music as a tool for Healing and Restoration of the Mind-Body-Soul Connection.

Over the years, she has built a large collection of compositions, arrangements and improvisations. Her unique, unconventional style of Originative Jazz, Classical Fusion and Ambient Crossover bridges several genres of music, eliciting an unexpected gumbo of color, texture and sound.

Tyëse’s synth-based cinematic sound captures the attention of many who hear it. Her melodic and harmonic interplay weaves the tapestry of the imagination, sparking chimerical daydreams while evoking equal measures of nostalgia and optimism with a dose of childlike wonder grounded in the essence of life.
